Countdown Maker
A countdown to New Year, January 1, 2027 ticks live below — days, hours, minutes and seconds — and the link in your address bar carries the countdown with it, ready to share.
How it works
Name your moment, set the date and time, and the countdown starts ticking below — days, hours, minutes and seconds, updated every second. The clever part is the address bar: the countdown is written into the page link as you set it, so you can bookmark it or send it to someone and they will see the same countdown, already running.
When the moment passes, the display does not break — it flips to counting how long ago it was, which is its own kind of memento.
The method
The countdown is the difference between the target moment and the current time, refreshed once per second and split into days, hours, minutes and seconds. Target and title travel in the link's query string (?to=…&title=…), so no account or server storage is involved.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share my countdown?
Set the name and date, then copy the page address from your browser. The link itself contains the countdown settings; anyone opening it sees the same ticking clock.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
It switches to counting up — how long since the moment — rather than sitting on zeros.
Is my countdown saved anywhere?
Only inside the link you copy. Nothing is stored on a server, which is why the link is the save file.
