The method
The count is target date minus today's date in whole calendar days, using your local calendar date for today. A date later today still counts as its calendar distance; time of day never enters the arithmetic.

Day zero. If the target is tomorrow, the answer is 1 day — the number of midnights you will sleep through before it.
Why does the weekday help?
Because planning runs on weekdays: 48 days sounds abstract, but knowing the date is a Friday tells you it sits at the end of a working week.
