Business Days Calculator
In January 2026 there are 22 business days — the month runs 31 calendar days, and 9 of them fall on a Saturday or Sunday.
How it works
Contracts promise things in business days: refunds in 5–7, delivery in 10, notice periods of 30. This tool counts them properly over any span — every date from start to end inclusive is classified as a weekday or a weekend day, and the totals are shown side by side so you can see exactly what was counted.
One honest limitation, printed rather than hidden: public holidays are not subtracted. They differ by country, state and even employer, so any tool that silently removes them is quietly guessing at your calendar.
The method
Each date in the inclusive range is tested against the weekday cycle (UTC calendar days): Monday–Friday count as business days, Saturday and Sunday as weekend days. Whole-week arithmetic gives the same result; the day-by-day classification is what the panel reports.
Frequently asked questions
Are public holidays excluded?
No — deliberately. Holidays vary too much by place to guess. If your span includes holidays you observe, subtract them from the business-day total; the panel's calendar count helps you spot them.
Are the first and last days both counted?
Yes, this calculator counts inclusively — both endpoints are classified and counted, matching how a date range on a calendar reads. The date duration calculator shows the exclusive figure if you need that convention instead.
What counts as a business day?
Monday through Friday, the near-universal convention in banking and contracts. Some regions use a Sunday–Thursday week; for those, count weekend days as Friday and Saturday instead.
