Week Number Calculator
November 4, 2026 falls in ISO week 45 of 2026 — a Wednesday, and the 308th day of the year.
How it works
Much of the world schedules by week numbers — week 45, deliver in week 12 — especially across Europe and in manufacturing and logistics. Enter a date and get its ISO week number, plus the day of the year and the quarter for good measure.
Week numbers have a famous edge case: the first and last days of a calendar year can belong to a week numbered in the neighbouring year. The panel shows the ISO year alongside the week so those dates never look wrong.
The method
ISO 8601: weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week containing the year's first Thursday. The date is shifted to the Thursday of its own week; that Thursday's year is the ISO year, and the week number is the count of Thursdays from the first one. Day of year and quarter are direct calendar counts.
Frequently asked questions
Why does January 1 sometimes show as week 52?
Because ISO week 1 is the first week with a Thursday in it. If January 1 falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it still belongs to the last week of the previous ISO year — week 52 (or 53).
Do all countries number weeks this way?
No. The US and Canada traditionally start weeks on Sunday and call the week containing January 1 week 1. This tool uses the ISO rule and says so; if your planner uses the US convention, its numbers can differ by one.
What is a week 53 year?
A year whose Thursdays number 53 — roughly every five or six years (2026 is one). It happens when the year starts on a Thursday, or on a Wednesday in a leap year.
